The weeks of Christmas vacation we will practice in the late morning each day.

A heads up for the Christmas holiday: those expecting to run indoor will be expected to practice over the break.  If you are going out of town alert the coaches as soon as possible so they can come up with a strategy to get the training necessary to win another state title in during that time.

A further reminder that the state Indoor championship is the weekend immediately following Mardi Gras.  For those expecting to represent the team at that meet, please do not plan on going on any trips (such as the ski trips many churches take at this time) because missing practice, plus the chance of injury or sickness, will hamper the team's ability to perform.

Team 101: October 27th- November 2nd

Weekly Training Schedule (All Dates, Locations and Times Subject to Change):

Note: Bad weather does not cancel practice, it will be moved to another area. This training schedule is for the boys; girls practice may differ.

Monday- Jefferson (Boys A.M. weight room)
Tuesday- John Curtis
Wednesday- District Championship (Audubon Park)
Thursday- City Park- Varsity Only (Boys A.M. weight room)
Friday- John Curtis
Saturday- STA Invite (Hammond) or Middle School Championship (City Park)
Sunday- On Your Own

Meet Information:

Wednesdays meet will take place at Audubon Park.  We will be leaving school early.  Girls race at 4:00 and boys at 4:40.

Saturday the middle school/junior high runners will compete at City Park in the same location we have the other meets this season.  A schedule will be discussed later this week.  We will meet at the park.

The varsity members of the team will race at STA in Hammond.  Girls race at 9:30 and boys at 10:00.  We will meet at school at 7:00 A.M.

Weekly Notes:

All athletes have at least 2 more weeks of the season following this week.  The Saturday before the state championship we will have 1 mile time trials for the whole team.  Therefore, junior high and middle school runners still have at least 2 more opportunities to compete.  Varsity/Varsity B runners have 4-6 more opportunities to compete.

We will be split between older runners going to STA this saturday and younger runners going to City Park.  Please listen for more info at practice.

Reminder that in order to run at Nike in November you must be under 17 minutes for boys and 20 minutes for girls. Your best opportunities are coming up in the next few weeks!

Recent Events:

This past week both teams took big steps forward with many members of the team setting personal records at either the STA Invite on Wednesday or the Brother Martin Invite on Saturday (some runners doing it at both places!).  Our girls program is improving at the right time, making it possible to recreate last years runner up position at the state meet.  The boys, despite losing on a tiebreaker to St. Paul's, still saw great improvement in their personal bests to help cement them as the top small school in the state.

Also, the improvement of the newer runners should be noted.  Our MS/JH/JV programs look stocked for the future and the coaching staff is very excited about the next crop of runners coming up in the program.

Sunday- On Your Own

Meet Information:

Wednesdays meet will take place at STA in Hammond.  We will be leaving school at 1:30.  The girls varsity race is at 3:30 and the boys varsity is at 4:15.  Junior High 2 mile will be at 5:00.  All athletes who have run varsity competitions thus far this season will run the Varsity races.

Saturday we will compete at City Park in the same location we have the other meets this season.  A schedule will be discussed later this week.

Weekly Notes:

Less than 5 weeks left of the season!

Reminder that in order to run at Nike in November you must be under 17 minutes for boys and 20 minutes for girls. Your best opportunities are coming up in the next few weeks!

Also the Spaghetti Dinner is on Thursday. All runners and their parents should do their best to attend as we will be recognized for our success so far this season, and additionally all money raised from purchasing a dinner goes directly back into the athletic budget!

This weekend the Brother Martin Invite has been added to the schedule for non-ACT runners.  Students taking the ACT should get in touch with the coaches to determine what they should do for practice.

Recent Events:

We once again had a great outing at the Walker Invite and both teams took strides forward heading towards the postseason.  The girls team had the first race this season where two girls ran under 21 minutes for 3 miles as Troyanna Gause and Maddie Myers both ran in the 20's.  We also averaged 21:19 for the meet which is our season best.  On the boys side we continued the win streak but this time against the #2 team in the state, Jesuit.  In the open race several of our younger runners had great performances, showing the caliber of the athletes we have coming through once the older runners graduate.

Recent Events:

This weekend the boys and girls team had great races at the Catholic High Invite.  The girls team had a top 10 finish and look to be one of the teams competing for a composite top 10 team ranking within the next few weeks.  The boys team was once again led by Devyn Keith who tied his PR at 14:59, scoring a total 69 points to win the prestigious Catholic High Invite.  Devyn remains undefeated against LA competition this year as well as the team.  It has been almost a whole year since the JC XC team has lost an in-state meet, and almost two years since they have lost to another in-state small school.  God has really blessed the program!

Recent Events:

This past weekend we competed at the Newman Invite at Audubon Park.  We had a great turnout and ran very well compared to the high level of competition.  Our girls team had the fastest 3 Mile average time of the year so far for our team, good to place us in the top 5 at the meet.  Troianna Gause took home a top 10 finish as well.  On the boys side we finished 8th which is amazing because we sat our top 6 boys who are racing next weekend in Houston.  Lastly, our 5th-8th grade boys team that ran the Middle School division saw an awesome performance as many runners ran for the Patriots the first time, but showed promise that our younger group can be as competitive as our older runners!
